JAKARTA – Thanks to its commitment to implementing Good Mining Practice (GMP), PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR), as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), received a prestigious award from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia, which was signed directly by the Minister of ESDM, Bahlil Lahadalia.

SMBR won two Pratama Achievement Awards for its success in the Safety Management Aspect and the Environmental Management Aspect of Mineral and Coal Mining. This award was given at the 2024 GMP Award event, which was held on Wednesday (25/9) in Jakarta and received by SMBR Vice President of Mining & Waste Management Muhammad Beni.

This award is a form of government appreciation for companies that have succeeded in implementing good and responsible mining practices. Mining safety management is one of the important aspects in the implementation of GMP, which emphasizes work safety, compliance with regulations, and environmental preservation.

SMBR is considered to have carried out mine management very well, both in terms of operations and compliance with safety standards. This award also confirms the company’s commitment to maintaining environmental sustainability and occupational safety in every line of operation.

On Friday (20/9), SMBR conducted a joint inspection with management in the mining area as part of the implementation of the Circular of the Director of Engineering and Environment/Chief Mining Inspector of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Number: 12.E/MB.07/DBT.KP/2024 issued on September 9, 2024.

Also present at the activity were the President Director of SMBR, Suherman Yahya, Director of Operations, Muhammad Syafitri, and Head of Mining Engineering (KTT) as well as Vice President of Mining & Waste Management, Muhammad Beni. Also present were the Mining Operational Officers (PJO) who were directly involved in mining activities.

Previously, on Thursday (19/9), SMBR also held an inspection and morning assembly led by Muhammad Beni. This activity follows up on the Circular of the Director of Engineering and Environment of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Number: 10.E/MB.07/DBT.KP/2024 concerning “Lessons Learned from Mining Safety Cases in July 2024 and Morning Roll Call Orders and Joint Inspections.” The activity was attended by all mine workers and aims to increase awareness and prevent accidents in the mining area.

This inspection aims to strengthen the company’s commitment to mining safety and appreciate the performance of the Department of Mining & Waste Management team who have maintained the supply of raw materials for cement production optimally. SMBR also emphasized its achievement in maintaining high occupational safety standards with Zero Fatality, namely without any fatal accidents in mining operations.

On that occasion, the President Director of SMBR, Suherman Yahya, conveyed the importance of continuing to implement a safety culture in every line of work. “Safety is our top priority. We are committed to always mitigating risks with the aim of preventing work accidents and occupational diseases,” said Suherman.

A similar thing was also conveyed by the Director of Operations of SMBR, Muhammad Syafitri, he added that risk mitigation is a key element in preventing work accidents. “We continue to evaluate and improve the work safety process. Employee safety is the main priority,” he said.

LAMPUNG – The Board of Directors of PT Semen Baturaja Tbk. (SMBR) held an audience with the Acting Governor of Lampung Samsudin in his office on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

In the meeting, Acting Governor Samsudin invited PT Semen Baturaja Tbk to play an active role in development in Lampung Province, especially in realizing community welfare programs.

Samsudin expressed the importance of contributions from companies, especially PT Semen Baturaja Tbk., in the development of the regional economy.

BATURAJA – In an effort to increase sales and competitiveness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) through Rumah BUMN Baturaja held a Product Branding & Packaging Design training. This activity took place at the Kemuning Hotel, Baturaja, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra on Tuesday (27/8).

The training, which was attended by 50 MSMEs from various sectors, presented Reza Apriandi, Founder of Boesku Indonesia, as a resource person. Reza, who is known as an experienced practitioner in mentoring MSMEs to move up a class, provided in-depth insights into the importance of branding and packaging in strengthening product competitiveness in the market.

The training materials include branding theory, packaging design, and product photography techniques. In addition to theory, participants also had the opportunity to practice directly attractive packaging design, packaging processes, and effective product photography techniques. The purpose of this training is to help MSMEs improve the quality of their products so that they are more attractive and have a higher selling value.

Reza Apriandi emphasized that product packaging not only functions as a protector, but also as an identity of the product itself. “Attractive packaging design can be the main attraction for consumers. BATURAJA – Acting Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) Elen Setiadi inaugurated the Sako Bridge owned by PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG). The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).

The event was held on Tuesday (20/8) at the Wisma Ganesha Hall, Baturaja, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU), South Sumatra. This visit was also attended by the SMBR Board of Commissioners including President Commissioner Alex Iskandar Munaf and Commissioner Inosentius Samsul and the entire SMBR Board of Directors, namely President Director Suherman Yahya, Director of Operations Muhammad Syafitri, Director (Finance & HR Function) Rahmat Hidayat.

The inauguration of the Sako Bridge was marked by the signing of an inscription directly by the Acting Governor of South Sumatra Elen Setiadi accompanied by the Acting Regent of OKU M. Iqbal Alisyahbana and the Board of Commissioners and Directors of SMBR.

In his remarks, the Acting Governor of South Sumatra Elen Setiadi expressed his gratitude and congratulations on the construction of the Sako Bridge. “On behalf of the South Sumatra Provincial Government, I congratulate you on the construction of the Sako Bridge in OKU Regency, South Sumatra Province,” said Elen.

The 60-meter long bridge will be access to Mine – 3 (T-3) owned by Semen Baturaja, this mine has reserves of cement raw materials that are estimated to be able to supply needs for the next 60 years. This inauguration is one of the strategic steps in ensuring the sustainability of the supply of raw materials for cement production in the future.

“In the future, we hope that Semen Baturaja can provide other infrastructure assistance for OKU Regency, so that with this assistance, the community can directly feel the positive effects of Semen Baturaja for the community,” he said.

He added that he hopes that the inauguration of this Bridge Construction can expand accessibility in OKU Regency, so that social activities can run smoothly to improve the economy of the community in the surrounding area. Meanwhile, SMBR President Director Suherman Yahya explained that T-3 is a strategic asset for Semen Baturaja. “The administrative progress of determining the work area at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry has reached 85%, and the issuance of the Mining Business Permit (IUP) for production operations in August 2023 with an IUP area of ​​1,552.54 hectares, we are optimistic that this mine will become an important resource to support sustainable production,” he said. The Acting Governor of South Sumatra also planted Red Kaliandra (Caliandra Calothyrsus) tree seedlings as a symbol of commitment to environmental preservation at Semen Baturaja. This planting is part of Semen Baturaja’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions through the use of biomass from red calliandra plants as an alternative fuel.

SMBR President Director Suherman Yahya explained that the company is committed to continuing to find innovative, environmentally friendly solutions, one of which is through the use of Renewable Energy (EBT).

“The use of biomass as fuel is one of our efforts to reduce carbon emissions, and we are optimistic that this step will make a significant contribution to achieving the Net Zero Emission target by 2060,” he explained.

Suherman revealed that the company has identified a biomass potential of 46,844.56 tons produced from a total of 54,429 vegetation, including red calliandra plants that have calories ranging from 4,100 – 4,200 kilocalories (kcal) which are planned to be managed as alternative fuels to substitute coal or EBT.

“Until now, Semen Baturaja has had 972 red calliandra plants, with a target of 1,500 red calliandra plants planted by the end of the year, with the potential calculation of being able to absorb up to 75.93 tons of CO₂. This shows a significant contribution to reducing carbon emissions,” said Suherman. (*)

This visit has the main focus on checking the Distribution Center (DC) in Palembang, which is an important distribution center for the company in ensuring Semen Baturaja products can be distributed optimally to various marketing areas. DC Palembang is expected to be the spearhead in improving product distribution to be more efficient and effective in Semester II/2024.

JAKARTA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) has won 3 awards at the 2024 Environmental and Social Innovation Awards (ENSIA) held by PT Sucofindo on Wednesday (31/7) at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali.

The three awards brought home by SMBR were two Platinum Awards and one Silver Award, including the Platinum Predicate for the B3 Waste Reduction Innovation category and the Energy Innovation category and the third award for the Energy Efficiency Reduction Innovation category.

The awards were received directly by SMBR Vice President of Corporate Secretary Hari Liandu. It is known that the ENSIA Awards give awards to companies that have shown extraordinary efforts in environmental and social innovation. With the theme “Extraordinary Turnaround Innovation For Sustainability”, this event emphasizes the importance of innovation to achieve sustainability goals.

The second Platinum predicate was also won again, for the energy efficiency innovation category through the Cement Grinding Process program with the Addition of Cement Grinding Aid (CGA) as an Effort to Reduce the Slag Index. By adding CGA, the slag index can be reduced without sacrificing cement quality. This program has succeeded in reducing the heat & fuel consumption index, reducing carbon emissions.

Then, the Silver predicate in the Emission Reduction Innovation category was won by SMBR through the program using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the form of Expert Optimizer (Intelligence Process Control System Program) to optimize the control of operating parameters on production equipment. This program is able to analyze all sample data massively and simultaneously to provide extensive information and appropriate actions, so that it can produce efficiency in the production process.

“In the previous year, Semen Baturaja also won an award at the same event with the Platinum predicate in the Social Innovation category through the SMBR Economic and Education Bee Farm Program, but this year we managed to bring home three trophies at once in 3 categories,” said Hari.
