BATURAJA – The floods that hit Baturaja, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra Province which have occurred since Tuesday (7/5) have submerged thousands of houses, educational, public facilities and places of worship. Seeing this condition, PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) carried out a Rapid Disaster Response Action by distributing various aid to communities affected by the flood.
Quick Disaster Response Action carried out by SMBR by establishing two Public Kitchens for affected Ring 1 Communities around the operational area, including Laya Village and Pusar Village. The aid distributed was in the form of public kitchen equipment, tents and basic food assistance.
As of Wednesday (8/5) SMBR had distributed basic food aid in the amount of 200 kg of rice, 100 boxes of instant noodles, 10 crates of eggs, 20 cans of milk, 20 boxes of tea, 20 boxes of coffee, 50 kg of sugar, 100 cans of sardines, 100 boxes of mineral water. and Vegetables.
SMBR Vice President of Corporate Secretary, Hari Liandu expressed his deep concern about the flood tragedy that hit Baturaja. He hopes that the emergency situation will not be prolonged, so that people can immediately return to their normal activities. In an effort to help ease the burden on the community in this emergency situation, SMBR has sent assistance through the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.
“We are also concerned and saddened by the flood disaster that occurred in Baturaja. As our concern for the affected communities, we set up a public kitchen and provided basic food assistance. “This assistance is a form of our concern which we hope will provide benefits to the community in meeting their daily needs,” said Hari.

Deni Saputra (Deni), a resident of Kemalaraja, East Baturaja, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra, is a private employee who started the Ngupi Ku-day business in 2018 to maximize the yield of his 2 ha coffee plantation on Beringin Island, OKU Regency South, as well as providing benefits to the people around it by opening up job opportunities.
“I am very grateful to be able to join Rumah BUMN Baturaja which has helped market products and been included in exhibitions so that Ngupi Ku-day can be widely known and increase sales. Now my business has grown a lot. My coffee products have entered several hotels and cafes in Martapura and Palembang. My dream of having my own cafe has also come true. If you ask about turnover, on average I can earn up to IDR 50 million per month. “The conditions were very different when we first started building a business,” said Deni.
Deni tells the story of his difficult times when he first started his business. “My capital at that time was IDR 500 thousand and I didn’t have a roasting machine or coffee grinding machine. Customers are still limited to friends and neighbors around the house, so I have to offer products door to door. “The income at that time was around IDR 100 thousand,” said Deni.

Previously, the handover was carried out symbolically by SMBR Main Director Suherman Yahya to Assistant 1 for Government and People’s Welfare of Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU) Indra Susanto to coincide with SMBR’s 49th anniversary which was held on Tuesday (14/11) in Ganesha Wisma Hall, Baturaja.

In commemoration of the peak of the 49th anniversary, SMBR provided CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) assistance in the form of educational compensation to residents in Ring 1 at 3 operational locations Palembang, Baturaja and Panjang. Then assistance to the Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency Government for the Environmental Service Program, Fisheries and Livestock Service, Rescue & Fire Department and District Education Service. OKU. Apart from that, SMBR also gave Loyal Work awards to 31 employees. The award is given as appreciation for the service of employees who have worked for 10 years.
Not only that, the SMBR History Book Review event previously successfully carried out the Soft Launch of the SMBR History Book on October 28 2023 in Jakarta. The event featured speakers who were directly involved in the initial events in the formation of the SMBR journey story, including Iwa Kartiwa as an SMBR employee with NIK (Employee Identity Number) 001 and Iwan Bestari with NIK 002.
Iwa Kartiwa tells the story of the journey when SMBR experienced a difficult phase amidst factory construction conditions. Since it was first established in November 1974, problems have occurred, the bureaucratic process is convoluted and the situation at that time where the rupiah exchange rate was being devalued quite severely due to the KNOP 15 policy implemented by the New Order government.
“The Yendaka phenomenon has resulted in the process of building the Baturaja Semen factory being stalled, because at the construction stage imported raw materials are needed, devaluation makes plans to build the factory more expensive and risk stalling,” he said.
Furthermore, employee with NIK 002, Iwan Bestari, added that since the beginning of the planning, PTSB (which is now called SMBR) was designed to build factories in three areas, namely Baturaja, Palembang and Panjang (Lampung).
“It’s just that building a factory in the Baturaja area requires different attention compared to the other two factories in Palembang and Panjang. “Because in Baturaja the pioneers had to clear the ground, understandably the area was still a thicket forest with various wild animals in it,” said Iwan.
The story of SMBR’s journey is summarized in one book containing 364 pages. The author and the writing team have interviewed more than 30 sources, from across generations of directors, former employees, commissioners, stakeholders and levels of society.
Famous figures interviewed included National Figure Azwar Anas, former Director and founder of SMBR. Former Member of the DPR/RI Marzuki Alie, Pamudji Rahardjo, Main Director who succeeded in bringing SMBR to the floor on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI). Until Daconi Khotob brought the company in the transition period to SIG.
SMBR Main Director Suherman Yahya said that this history book indicates that SMBR is half a century old. This story is not just documentation but a form of appreciation and respect for the pioneers of the founding of SMBR.
At a glance at SMBR’s performance, up to the third quarter of 2023, SMBR’s financial performance is very good, where revenue is 10% higher compared to last year and net profit reached IDR 54 billion or an increase of 25% compared to last year. Good financial performance is of course supported by marketing performance, where cement sales volume increased 9% compared to last year, white clay sales were achieved the same as last year’s achievements. PALEMBANG – Exciting news comes from PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk SIG), a brilliant achievement achieved by one of SMBR’s employees and a table tennis athlete, namely Hendri Radilah. He managed to win 3 medals in the IV South Sumatra Peparprov (Provincial Paralympic Week) event which was held in Lahat Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel) which took place from 27 to 30 September 2023.
Hendri’s success in making the name of SMBR and South Sumatra Province proud cannot be separated from the efforts and hard work carried out by Hendri and his colleagues. Hendri, who represented the Lahat Regency contingent, succeeded in bringing home 3 medals in table tennis, including 1 gold in the men’s singles category, 1 silver in the men’s singles category. Men’s Team, and 1 Bronze in Men’s Doubles Category.
Hendri said that the results he got could not be separated from preparation and support from SMBR. “Alhamdulliah, the support and support from SMBR is extraordinary, both in moral support and in preparation because we need time to practice and SMBR provides support for that, so we can concentrate on the event,” said Hendri, an SMBR employee who served in the Unit of SMBR Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
